The Ontario SPCA is honoured to be the recipient of the 2009 National Summit for Urban Animal Strategies Media & Communications Award for its FixYourPet campaign.

The Ontario SPCA accepted the award for its successful and edgy FixYour Pet campaign promoting the importance of spay/neutering companion animals to help end pet overpopulation; and spread the word about responsible pet ownership. Thrilled with the news of the award, Kate MacDonald, Ontario SPCA’s Chief Executive Officer said, “We found the message to spay/neuter your pet to be old, but yet still a very important one. With the cat over-population crisis in Ontario, and other pets being surrendered daily at shelters all across the province, this edgy campaign was a fresh new approach that sparked the attention of the media.”

The word quickly spread across the province because of the refreshing new approach of the campaign as a result the Ontario SPCA is garnering not only a wider audience for this important message, but new audiences too.
