L’Arche Canada Annual Report

In the coming months we have some very specific goals. Each one relates to the growth and development of our homes and programs across Canada. Here are several examples:

♦ The single most important resource in all L’Arche communities is the young women and men who join our homes and programs to share life with and care for people with disabilities. This year we will continue our work of creating a national recruitment strategy to ensure that we can draw the right assistants into our homes across Canada. We are also creating a new national training program for them. Each year we receive close to 1,000 applications.

♦ This year we are also raising funds to support a small but very important group of L’Arche assistants. These are people who have lived and worked in L’Arche for 25–35 years and who are now retiring but do not have an adequate pension on which to live.

♦ We continue to raise annual funds to ensure the high quality, faith-based approach to community care which makes L’Arche unique.

♦ This year we will make further investments in strengthening our educational program which we estimate will reach 150,000 senior high school students across Canada in the coming year.

Because creating and sustaining strong L’Arche communities is long term work, we invite your financial support. No one can do it alone. L’Arche cannot grow and develop without your commitment.
