“United Way Sets Aggressive 2009 Goal to Meet Intensifying Local Needs”
United Way of York Region (UWYR) has kicked off its annual campaign with a goal of raising a record $7,650,000 for local priorities and programs, a $200,000 (2.7%) increase over last year’s comparable achievement of $7,450,000.
Over 1800 friends, donors and rowers kicked-off the 2009 United Way of York Region Campaign, Saturday August 15th at the Toromont CAT Dragon Boat Festival.
And with every question Daniele Zanotti, CEO, United Way of York Region, asked, the crowd responded and cheered with a stronger and louder “YES!”
“Can we bring it home for the family suddenly hit by job loss and tightening household budget in Vaughan?” – “YES!”
“Can we bring it home for the youth struggling to cope and succeed in Newmarket?” – “YES!”
“Can we bring it home for the single parent in Richmond Hill enrolled in literacy classes and parenting programs, all the while holding down two jobs to make ends meet?” – “YES!”
